The February 7, 2012 edition of The Ziglar Weekly Newsletter includes an article by Dr. Lee Colan entitled, Quit Getting Comfortable. He says that most of life is played in the comfort zone. We stay in a comfortable job or relationship rather than taking chances. He proposes that we lose focus and aren’t as sharp when we allow ourselves to remain in a place of comfort. He states, “If we make our comfort zone as big as our life, we not only lose our edge, we can even lose sight of the edge.” The comfort zone is safe and lacks risk, but it also has little to offer. To quote Dr. Colan, “Because the risk is small, so is the reward. Learning and growth occur when we are uncomfortable.” We will explore in the next few weeks the questions he suggests may help us move out of our comfort zone.
