Have you ever felt like it is simply impossible to get everything done?  There just doesn’t seem to be enough time, right?  What would you think if I told you that time is not the problem?

Yes, we all have the same limited amount of time every day.  But we also have a limited supply of will and discipline.  Any conscious act of self-regulation uses from this supply of will and discipline, whether it’s resisting that cookie, cleaning the house, or doing anything else that requires effort.  All too often, we deplete the supply of both will and discipline, as well as energy, before we have marked off everything on our to-do list.

John Acuff, in his book, Start, shares his five-step secret to getting it all done.

  1.  Admit that you can’t possibly get it all done.
  2. Give yourself the grace to accept that as reality, not failure.
  3. Do the things you can do with your full attention.
  4. Celebrate what happens during Step 3 instead of obsessing over the things you didn’t get to.
  5. Repeat as necessary.

Do your best, celebrate your achievements and live . . . your life to the fullest.
