I started listening to a Dale Carnegie book, How to Stop Worrying and Start Living, this week. I picked up a helpful and practical tip after listening for only approximately an hour. When faced with a situation that causes you to worry, he suggests three steps:
1. First, ask yourself “what is the worst thing that could happen?”
2. Next, prepare yourself to accept the worst.
3. Then, begin working to make the result better than the worst.
He shares examples of people who were relieved of worry after doing this. When we are oppressed with worry, we cannot think clearly to make necessary decisions. By freeing ourselves of worry, we clear our minds and can therefore constructively make a plan.
What things have you done to stop worrying?
