I understand the importance of resting and taking a break. I enjoy traveling and realized recently that it had been almost a year since I went on a trip. I could feel the need for a break in my stress level. So last week I went to Gatlinburg for a few days. I took some “work” with me because I felt the pressure of so much I needed and wanted to accomplishment. Fortunately though, shortly after leaving town, I made the decision not to look at it while I was away. This was a very good decision.
I was so tired and physically stressed when I left home that I didn’t even feel the usual excitement about the trip. All I felt was the need for the trip. I knew that I would not achieve the full impact of this vacation unless I allowed myself to separate from responsibility. I am so glad that I did! I came home energized and refreshed. And, I am happy to report that even after returning to work three days ago, I still feel energized and enthusiastic about my life and my work!
Have you experienced a successful break this summer that you would like to share?
