I’ve just finished reading Mastering the Seven Decisions by Andy Andrews. This book explores more deeply the seven decisions presented in The Traveler’s Gift. Andy points out that by accepting responsibility for our past and where we are in life, it brings hope to our future. Why? If where we are today is because of our parents, the weather, or what someone else did, then we can’t do anything about it. We can’t change the weather. We can’t control what anyone else does. But when we accept responsibility for our past, then we recognize that we have responsibility for our future. We are responsible and we can change ourselves.

Even though things happen that we can’t control, we do control our response. It is the decision we make in response to what happens that determines where we go in life. Andy states in Mastering the Seven Decisions, “If where we are today is not in our control, then how can tomorrow’s fate be better? The game, then, becomes simple. Make better choices. Until we accept responsibility for where we are, we have no basis for moving forward in our lives.”

Make the right choice and take responsibility so you can begin to live . . . life to the fullest.
