I plan to make my new year as happy as possible!
I learned a great lesson from 2012 that I would like to share with you. I had intended to write out my goals for the year like I had done for 2011, but somehow it just didn’t happen. I continued into the year intending to write down my goals, but it remained undone. I had some in my mind, but I didn’t take the time to put them on paper and establish deadlines. I ended up getting sick with a perforated appendix in February which pretty much took care of a couple of months. By then more than a quarter of the year was gone! I felt behind all year long.
Dave Ramsey recommends spending every penny on paper before the month begins. Similarly, I feel that goals for the new year should be in writing before the year begins. The result of my not doing that for 2012 is that I didn’t accomplish all that I could have. Dan Miller, author of 48 Days to the Work You Love, has his year planned out by October of the previous year. I didn’t quite get ready that early, but I assure you that I had my 2013 goals in writing before January 1, 2013!
Those are my goals for the year. I also listed specific goals for the first few months to ensure that I begin accomplishing right away. I have weekly goals in place for this week as well. Most days I have a daily list, too. Too many lists, you might say. The lists are worth it. There is just something wonderful about marking through completed tasks on my to-do lists!
Have you written out your goals for 2013? It is still the first week of the new year, so get those goals written so you can be sure to live your fullest life in 2013!
