I spend time planning and thinking about what I want to become – striving for excellence in my future. Setting goals is one tool that is helpful in planning. As I achieve desired results, I feel that I am getting closer to becoming what I ultimately want to be. This is effective, but I really hadn’t considered until recently that there are times when this could actually hinder the process instead of helping.

I heard recently an encouragement to focus on being, not on becoming. Why not just commit to being that person now? For example, if I envision myself happy and fulfilled in the life I am living, why not be that person today? I can choose to be happy. I can make sure I wear a smile. I can make the necessary changes or additions to my life to experience the fulfillment I desire.

Life is what we make it. Why wait? Be what you want to now so you can Live! . . . life to the fullest.
