Wow! Can it really be? Half of the year 2013 is over. Time sure flies, doesn’t it!

How are you doing? Have you achieved half of the goals you set for yourself? Did you even set goals for 2013?

I set specific goals the first of the year. I shared some of those in my January workshop and gave updates in the May workshop. I am pleased to say that I have accomplished a lot in these first six months of the year. I am right on target with some of my goals, ahead with some and behind with others. Reviewing them at the halfway point allows me to assess and plan for the upcoming months.

The important thing is that I set goals prior to beginning the year. This makes me feel especially good because 2012 didn’t go so well for me. I had good intentions for that year, but that was not enough. Dan Miller of 48 Days recommends having goals in place prior to the year beginning. I didn’t make that deadline, and as a consequence never set them at all. I thought about it, often, during the first month or so but still didn’t take the time to think through my plans and write down specifics. After a while I told myself that since it was not done there was no sense in doing it so late. So I didn’t.

When I looked back over 2012, I could find very little that pushed Live! forward. I was disappointed, but mostly irritated with myself. Achievement is definitely tied to goal setting. This experience confirmed it.

You can be assured that I had specific goals in place on January 1, 2013 and today, at the halfway point, I feel spectacular!

There are six months left in 2013. Don’t be like me last year and get to the end with no accomplishments to celebrate. I encourage you to sit down right now and write down three things which are outside your routine activities and that push you out of your comfort zone. Assign each item a specific completion date. Then, get busy and live! . . . life to the fullest!
