Our thoughts are so vital to what we do. I have often shared from Earl Nightingale’s book, The Strangest Secret, his perspective on thinking. He compares the mind to soil. Soil will produce whatever is planted in it, without concern for what it is. Whether corn or flowers, sticker bushes or tulips, what is planted grows.
Our mind will also “produce” whatever we put into it. If we read and listen to positive information, we tend to have a positive attitude and life. However, if we spend time with negative influences and listen to people who sing their song of gloom and despair, that is what our life will reap as well. Gloom and despair!
I heard an illustration on the radio this week comparing the mind, more specifically, to a lawn. Like a lawn, the mind that is watered, fed, groomed, treated and well-maintained will grow and be healthy and productive. Also, like a lawn, the mind that is ignored and not cared for and given the proper attention will begin to see unattractive “weeds” and “deadly sprouts” that, if allowed to continue to grow, will eventually destroy the beauty of what is produced.
My question to you today is, how well are you tending your “lawn?” I encourage you to keep your mind maintained so you can be sure to live . . . life to the fullest.
