It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Yes, it is . . if we choose to make it that. This season can be very stressful, emotionally draining and physically tiring. However, if we choose to look for and enjoy the meaningful activities, we will find our Christmas blessings.
The most important blessing of Christmas is recognizing the true meaning. The beautiful programs at church help me do that. The children’s presentation was yesterday at my church and it was absolutely beautiful! The children sang praises, performed drama and even shared their personal testimonies in front of a gorgeous backdrop of Christmas trees. Our adult play is next weekend and I am enjoying rehearsals and excitedly looking forward to the two presentations. It is such a touching play that I expect will encourage people.
Another blessing I am enjoying is spending time with special people in my life. I set aside time to share a meal and/or exchange gifts with special friends. Last week I went to Tennessee with family to see the beautiful lights and presentations at Dollywood. We laughed and played and ate special treats together. The lights and decorations at night set the atmosphere for a magical Christmas experience. It is important to feed the child within us.
One of the greatest blessings of Christmas is helping others. While I am enjoying my family, church family and relationship with Jesus, the reason for the season, there are many people around me who are suffering without some of these experiences. I like buying gifts for children I don’t know and giving to people who need help to provide a Christmas celebration for their families. I love how this time of year brings with it a spirit of sharing and giving.
What are the blessings you enjoy during the Christmas season that help you to live your life to the fullest?
