interHere we are! It is officially a new year, 2016!

We have our plans all set for the year. Our goals are in place and we know where we are headed. Awesome feeling, right? But then, the unexpected happens. This unexpected event brings us to a halt. Oh no! Having to deal with this is going to delay all of our plans and put our year behind schedule – and so early in the year!

I would like to share with you 4 Lessons from Interruption that I learned from a sermon:

1. Interruptions Happen. No matter how well we plan, there will be interruptions. That is just life. It is not the interruption, but the way it is handled that is important.

2. Do Not Overreact. Not all interruptions are bad. In fact, they may even be God working behind the scenes. Ask yourself what you can learn from this situation, rather than getting upset and becoming bitter.

3. Listen to God. Turn to God from the beginning, rather than as a last resort after you have done everything else you know to do. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to: “ Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Especially in those times when we don’t understand what is happening to us, it is very important to hear what God has to say about the matter and to be assured that we can always trust Him.

4. Obey God – No Matter What. Truly hear and accept what God impresses you to do. Obey Him even when you may not fully understand His direction. It has been my experience that following Him, one step at a time, when you can’t see the entire road ahead, will result in placing you exactly where He wants you to be – in His time.

Embrace the interruptions you face in life, learn from them and follow God’s leading. This will help you to live . . . life to the fullest.
