As a person who enjoys having a plan, I found myself a bit disappointed when last week’s schedule was interrupted by an unexpected illness.  The sinus infection hit hard and suddenly.  That, coupled with the non-stop busyness of a workshop, pretty much took me down for a few days.

Adjusting Your Plan

Creativity does not flow freely through a congested head that hurts.  Although I tried, the writing I had planned to do on Friday didn’t happen.  It was replaced with sleep and rest.  I was looking forward to getting my porches cleaned up on Saturday so my plants could take their preferred place on the screened in deck which makes my time sitting out there so much more enjoyable.  Needless to say, I was not able to be outside and for sure did not feel like doing that work.

So now what?  Am I going to lose two full days of accomplishment?  That would be a huge setback on my goals!  I didn’t feel like physically working, and especially not outside with this congestion and headache.  I still was not feeling the creativity or inspiration to write either.

Not willing to give in to my feelings, I found a way to adjust the plan.  There was a program I wanted to review and some reading to catch up on.  I read until my eyes were too heavy to continue and then I would lie down on the sofa and sleep for awhile.  I alternated this pattern throughout Saturday and even some on Sunday afternoon.

Wow! I was able to end my week feeling much better – both physically and regarding my accomplishments.  I allowed myself to get the rest my body was screaming for and also completed a program and some extra reading.

What can you adjust in your life that will keep you on track for your goals?  I encourage you to make that change today so you can live . . . your life to the fullest.
