Do you ever feel stuck? You aren’t happy, but you don’t know what to do about it. Allow the ABCs below to help you out – of your rut.
Acknowledge. The first step to any type of recovery is recognizing your need. Just admitting to yourself that you are not happy with your life is key. What would make you happy and fulfilled? I recommend a little exercise that can point you in the right direction.
Ask yourself, “What do I most want people to say about me at my 90th birthday party?” What do you want to be remembered for? Make a list of what comes to your mind.
Now, review the list. Are your current behaviors going to ensure that this is the legacy you will leave? If not, what would it take to make that happen?
Believe. “The future belongs to those who believe in their dreams.” Eleanor Roosevelt. You must believe in yourself before you can take the necessary action to become what you want to be. Henry Ford said, “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.” If you don’t believe that you can achieve your dreams, then you most likely won’t even try.
Change. When I begin to feel down or dissatisfied with life, I know it is time to change something. Thinking that we can live a happy life while continuing to do the same things for years on end is a farce. Change is necessary if we want to grow. As Andy Andrews states, “It is outside your comfort zone that all the rewards you are seeking will be found.”
Learn your ABCs so you can live! . . . your life to the fullest.
