There was once an old farmer who had suffered a lot of affliction and trouble throughout his life but was able to maintain his sense of humor through it all. When asked how he was able to stay so happy and serene, he responded that it wasn’t hard. He said he just learned to cooperate with the inevitable.
What an insight! We could avoid so much irritation and frustration if we would simply cooperate with what life brings us. That does not mean just accepting every circumstance. Instead, when a situation arises, take the time to ask yourself if this is something you can change or control. If the answer is yes, then change it. If the answer is no, then don’t waste your time fretting over it.
It is reactive people who focus on what they can’t control. This creates negative energy and causes neglect for what they actually could do something about.
Choose to be proactive instead. Focus on what you can do. The positive energy from this focus will help you grow and expand your circle of influence.
Whether you encounter a big problem or one as simple as a car pulling out in front of you on the interstate, don’t give your time and energy to dwelling on something you can do nothing about. Use that energy on something of value and importance.
Cooperate with the inevitable so you can live . . . your life to the fullest.
