These are the words I heard a speaker say years ago that have proven to be life changing for me. He was encouraging us to write down goals that clearly stated what we wanted in life. It is proven that simply writing something down makes it more likely to happen. When you put a goal in writing, it causes your mind to naturally move in the direction of that goal. What happens if you don’t write it down? Usually, nothing. It will likely be forgotten. Even if you still keep it in your mind, it will probably not happen.
Another reason to write things down is what I call a “to-do” list. I have worked from a list for many years. In fact, coworkers would often comment about the sticky notes on my desk. I like to make my list so I can discard it after all the tasks are completed and marked off.
Now I maintain my list on the computer and print it out for the week so I can mark off each item as it is completed. Such a sense of accomplishment when everything is done!
Whether it is a long-term goal that you want your mind to keep your actions focused on or a list of things you need to get done today, writing it down keeps it before you. As the old proverb states, “The strongest memory is weaker than the palest ink.”
Write it down so you can live . . . your life to the fullest!
