Mark Twain suggested that you “Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.”
You have a dream and have set goals to see it to fruition. You are making progress, although slow. You feel great when you meet a milestone, but there are also times when it seems you are stuck and not moving forward at all. It is easy to become discouraged and disheartened during these low times. Friends and acquaintances who are aware of your dream ask about the progress and you share where you are. How do they respond?
It is vital that we associate with people who encourage and challenge us to grow. Many people are content to stay where they currently dwell in life as if they are unaware of the abundance and rewarding enjoyment that is possible. The kind of reward I am speaking of comes only from seeking to become your best and living up to your full potential.
“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” This quote from Jim Rohn has greatly impacted my life. I seek out like-minded people who are doing their best to become who they were meant to be. This may be through books, conferences, mastermind groups or personal friends and family. When I need a dose of encouragement, I reach out to those who want me to succeed and can help me to know how.
Find the associations who will be great for you so you can live! . . . your life to the fullest.
