Do you ever find yourself blaming something from your past for your current issues? It’s like we think having a “reason” for it somehow makes the problem ok. Now, I know there are times when the excuse may be justified. Yes, you are on the sofa with your foot propped up because you fell. But what about the one where you tell yourself that no one is going to hire you for a job because you were let go from a job 10 years ago. Or, the one where you tell yourself you can’t lose weight and be fit because you have been overweight for years.
The latter two excuses are simply a convenient crutch to prevent you from doing what you know you ought to do. Is there an excuse you find yourself using over and over? If so, take a closer look at it. Has it become a habit? Is it really true? Is it time to let that excuse go and make positive changes in your life?
Don’t let excuses from your past determine who you are now and who you will be in the future. You have one life and it is up to you what you do with it. How will you feel at the end of the road if you have allowed yourself to hobble around on a crutch and never become who you were intended to be?
Lose the excuses so you can live . . . your life to the fullest.
