Many things contribute to success, but one of the most important is persistence.  Pushing through even when things are not going as planned.  Persevering in the face of trials.  Determination to reach the goals you have set for yourself.  Dedication to your purpose.  Enduring to the end.  It often even shows up as downright stubbornness.  The resolve to get it done – no matter what!

Calvin Coolidge felt that, “Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence.  Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent.  Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb.  Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts.  Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.  The slogan ‘press on’ has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.”

Mark Batterson in his book, All In, emphasizes the necessity of turning away from the past and pressing on toward the future.  We can learn from our past, but dwelling there prevents us from fully living the life we desire.  Philippians 3:13-14 says, “forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

The life of abundance we want does not just fall into our lap while we sit on the sofa.  We must go after it.

Press on to the future awaiting you so you can live . . . your life to the fullest.
