A baby grows and matures into a child.  A child becomes a teenager and then a young adult.  Settle into a career and possibly a family . . . and then what?

Unfortunately, that is where it ends for far too many people.  They feel they have learned what is necessary and now they are done.  The person with this viewpoint will sacrifice the life they were created for.

Continual growth in every part of life is important.  If we are not growing and becoming better, then guess what.  We are moving backward.  Standing still is not an option.

Just as a maturing and growing child has bumps along the way, it is often the tough experiences of life that bring about progress.  The loss of a job may become the catalyst for finding the new, more fulfilling career.  An illness that requires a long recovery time gives us downtime during which we can do some soul searching that changes our life path.

These difficult times bring an uncomfortable tension with the unknown.  How do you test your growth potential?  I heard Steven Furtick say this on a podcast today: “Your tolerance for tension determines your potential for growth.”  Your willingness to experience discomfort ensures the likelihood of your growth.

Get out of your comfort zone so you can live . . . your life to the fullest.
