Suffering is not a happy topic to address, but the fact is that we all do it at times.
It hurts. It brings pain, misery and grief. Why would someone do it on purpose?
Well, it may not be by choice, but it can certainly serve a purpose.
I am currently reading a wonderful book that gives proven strategies for overcoming particular issues. The reason this book exists is that the author experienced the aforementioned issues. After working through the difficulties she was facing, her personal experience has given her an outlet for helping others.
Her suffering served a purpose. The purpose is to help others lessen their pain because she was willing to share what she learned in dealing with her own.
Have you ever survived difficulties and later had the opportunity to help someone else deal with a similar situation? I know I have. When you are going through tough times, it is quite helpful to talk with someone who has been there. They understand how it feels and can care in a way another person may not be capable of.
So, if you are in an unpleasant time right now, do your very best to work through it effectively. You never know when the purpose will present itself and you will have the opportunity to help someone.
Live with purpose so you can live . . . your life to the fullest.
