Have you ever found yourself in a position to need a little extra help and asked someone to do you a favor?  Or perhaps you have been asked by someone else to do a favor for them.  A favor is doing an act of kindness for someone above what is required.  How do you feel when someone does you a favor or you do one for another person?  Well, that kind of depends.

Your first thought is probably that it makes you feel good either way.  Getting even the smallest assistance when it is really needed usually gives us a warm feeling of appreciation.  And we all know that helping others brings us joy.

Freely giving and receiving is such a blessing!  However, have you noticed that not everyone is so free?  Some people find it difficult to receive from others.  There are many possible reasons for this.  On the other hand, there are also those who don’t freely give of themselves.

Does it really matter whether or not a favor is done freely?  This anonymous quotation I ran across implies that it does.  “If you do a favor for someone and expect a favor in return, it’s a trade, not an act of kindness.”

Give kindness so you can live . . . your life to the fullest.
