The story is told of a young man who sold the family farm. He didn’t see a future there in farming and chose instead to travel the world in search of his fortune. Many years later he found himself old and poor. He returned one day to reminisce his experiences at the old farm. To his surprise, he discovered that the new owner of the property had discovered oil there!
I realize this is a very simplistic story, but it expresses so well how we tend to feel that the grass is always greener on the other side.
The truth is that the grass is greener where you water it. It isn’t really about the grass at all. It is about you. Your attitude, your effort, your desires, your fortitude.
What do you expect to find in the greener grass? What can you do to create that where you currently are? Do you believe it can really be yours? Are you willing to work for it?
Get out there and fertilize and take care of that grass so you can live . . . your life to the fullest.
