“People who make the worst use of time may be the same ones who complain that there is never enough time.” I just ran across this anonymous quotation and realized how it applies to what I said to myself only a few minutes ago! I am feeling pressured because there is so much to get done this week. What is my answer?
Do something! When I allow myself to stress about the length and deadlines of my to do lists, it can result in the opposite of what I need. But when I just go ahead and start marking things off the list I become energized to do more.
Getting a couple quick things off the list gives me momentum so I can sit down and focus on those things that take more time and concentration. I have found that doing the biggest, most important, or least enjoyable task early in the day really helps to relieve stress.
One thing I know for sure: Stressing and becoming frustrated are counterproductive to accomplishment. When I get all wound up, I can’t focus. I find my thoughts drifting and those items remaining on my to do list.
My answer for this extra busy week is to put on those running shoes and just do it!
Consistent, focused determination. That is what it takes to live . . . your life to the fullest.
