I enjoy hearing of people who have overcome extreme difficulties to accomplish something great. One such person is Patrick Henry Hughes. I recently read his book, I Am Potential, which he wrote with his father. Patrick was born in 1988 with several disabilities including deformed arms and legs and no eyes. However, he maintained an amazingly positive attitude and strong determination as he grew up and faced many surgeries and disappointments. He pursued his passion for music and became a concert pianist. He played in a marching band in school as his Dad pushed him in his wheelchair. He faced his many fears and accomplished many amazing feats.

In those times when I find myself doubting my capability to see my dreams fulfilled, it is the people like Patrick Henry who give me encouragement to continue taking the next step. He said in his book, “So, live now, give now, love now, and laugh as much as you can. In the words of one of my heroes, Mother Teresa: ‘Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.’”

So what is keeping you from seeing your dreams fulfilled?
