A man in a car saw a boy walking on a dusty road with a rifle slung over his shoulder.   When asked by the man what he was hunting, the boy responded, “Don’t know.  I ain’t seen it yet.”

How true this is of our lives.  We cannot set clear and specific goals until we can visualize the future we want.  Even then, there will be many unknowns – both setbacks and opportunities.   Setting specific goals is critical, but we must also allow in our thought process the flexibility to make the most of whatever comes our way.

Planning is very important and is what helps move us toward what we want in life.  However, when we allow the unplanned interruptions to upset us, it can cause us to want to throw up our hands and quit.  I have learned that no matter how hard I try, things just don’t always go as planned.  Some people view this as failure.  But it can actually be a stepping stone toward growth.  When you plan the best you can, and then graciously make the necessary changes as the unexpected comes along, you become more comfortable making adjustments.  You now know that veering from your planned course of action can be positive in many ways.  Appropriately embracing new adventures keeps life interesting.

A clear plan, along with a flexible mindset, brings results – sometimes better than what was planned!   Expect the unexpected so you can live . . . your life to the fullest.
