Fear is one of the primary reasons people don’t see their dreams come true. David Schwartz, PhD, states in his book, The Magic of Thinking Big, “Fear explains why millions of people accomplish little and enjoy little.” What are we afraid of? Embarrassing ourselves, not being as smart as other people, doing something wrong . . . ? The fact is that we are all more similar than not. When we understand that, and begin to act as though we know that, we can push past the fear and accomplish something. I think that is why taking the first step is so powerful. After we realize that we have actually stepped out and accomplished something and survived it, we become empowered to attempt more. Dr. Schwartz says “action cures fear. Indecision, postponement, on the other hand, fertilize fear.”

The next time you feel fearful, ask yourself, “What kind of action can I take to conquer my fear?” (David Schwartz) Then take that action immediately.
