Coach Thomas was unique in teaching his private soccer lessons. Instead of timing the session, he had a list of skills for the student to master at each session. He practiced along with the student rather than standing and instructing. His passion showed.
One day a student left her lesson in tears. Coach Thomas would not take payment for the session, stating that he had not earned it. The student’s mother tried again to pay him and he refused payment. He told her that if a student doesn’t give 100% then he didn’t do his job.
The student shared with her mother how she felt guilty, like she had cheated her teacher. That is when the principle of the coach’s action hit the mother. When we don’t try our hardest, we not only cheat ourselves, but others too.
That principle applies to each of our lives. We all have a specific purpose in life. If we are not doing our best to discover and fulfill our purpose, we are not the only ones who suffer for it. We are cheating others as well.
Find your purpose. Live your purpose. That is when you will live . . . your life to the fullest.
