Here’s how.
Spend time with successful people. According to the well-known motivational speaker, Jim Rohn, we are the average of the five people we spend the most time with.
Who do you spend time with? Are they encouraging you to grow and become a better person? Are they striving to be their best and fulfill their purpose in life?
You see, just as true as spending time with successful people will make you more successful, spending time with those who are stagnant and content will drag you down. It’s similar to the black crabs. Have you heard about them? They are clearly not on the successful side of the scale. Just try picking some up at the beach and gathering them into a bucket. When that one adventurous crab starts to make its climb up the side of the bucket to freedom, one of his fellow prisoners will reach up and pull him back down. They are content with their fate and want to keep all there with them.
When you discover what you want in life and begin to make your way in that direction, will you get it? It is much less likely if the friends around you are criticizing your idea and discouraging you by acknowledging all the things that could go wrong. It will take years to get a degree. Making a job change now would be a really big risk. Why would you want to do that? Have you ever heard similar statements?
Instead, why not look for people who are already doing what you want to do. People who pushed through and graduated – even in the face of difficulty. Those who have a successful business. They are the ones who have done it and will encourage you to do it as well. These people don’t all have to be personal acquaintances. Read the books and listen to the podcasts of successful people.
Want to be successful? Spend time with the right people and you, too, can live . . . your life to the fullest.
