A trip to the Smoky Mountains with a group of friends. Awesome!
Mid-October is too early for full Fall color, but we found a little when we went to the higher elevations. We came across something else while hiking in the mountains. What did we discover? Inspiration.
We passed quite a few people on the trail. Some were enjoying a short jaunt like we were. Others had been out there for hours. One such person who really caught our attention was the man in this picture. We stood on the trail and talked for a while.
This man is 84 years old. Our chat with him was in mid-afternoon and he had been hiking since 8:00 a.m. He shared about some of his many hiking adventures over the years. His wife joined him on the earlier journeys, but now opted for other activities, such as the craft show in Gatlinburg, on this particular day.
He told us why he is still able to do these physically-challenging activities. He eats healthy foods and maintains regular exercise. He continues to do what he can do, even though he is not able to do everything he could in the past.
I have a strong desire to age as gracefully and healthily as possible. Meeting people who are achieving similar goals is so motivating to me!
Where are you finding inspiration? I encourage you to get out there and look for it so you can live . . . your life to the fullest.
