Have you ever known a person who could always justify their lack of action? In other words, they always had an excuse. How do feel about a person who presents with an alibi instead of service? Does trust, respect, dependability top your list of feelings?
We have opportunity to serve people daily. Coworkers, family members, friends, strangers in the store or on the sidewalk. Even if we don’t leave home often, as is common these days, we can still call, text, message or share online a word of encouragement.
Sydney Smith, an English clergyman from the 1800s, suggested trying to make one person happy every day and “in ten years you may have made three thousand, six hundred and fifty persons happy, or brightened a small town by your contribution to the fund of general enjoyment.”
Are you finding a way to serve someone? Is your life making a positive difference in the world? Do you contribute to the fund of general enjoyment every day?
The choice is yours. Choose service so you can live . . . your life to the fullest.
