Satisfaction, contentment, gratification. These sound like very positive goals to achieve. But is this really what we want?
Being satisfied with things as they are can actually prevent us from becoming all we can be. Contentment causes us to reject the better things in life. Accepting good enough makes us miss out on the best. It makes us fear the unknown, become skeptical of the untried and dislike the new. Seeking gratification instead of purpose holds us back.
The word to avoid? Complacency. Synonyms of complacency: satisfaction, contentment, gratification. People who are complacent, like water, follow the easiest course – downhill.
Leave complacency behind and begin moving forward to the best life you can possibly have – life to the fullest.
