Have you ever decided to do a project and then weeks later realize that you haven’t even started yet? Those weeks just seem to fly by! I don’t know about you, but after awhile I start thinking about not doing it at all. Depending on the project, it may be too late anyway.
Or, maybe you started the project all gung ho and then life got in the way and you just never got around to completing it.
What happens after that? How do you feel after letting something go like that? Personally, it makes me feel bad about myself. And if I let several different things slide, I begin to get that “gloom, despair and agony on me” feeling. If I allow myself to stay there very long, I eventually get to the place where “everything in my life is wrong.”
How do we prevent this downward spiral? The best thing I have found when I begin to feel this way is to just do something. Determine that you are going to do one thing each day toward a goal. Even if it takes only five minutes. The feeling of accomplishment, although small, begins to build a new hope and motivation to continue. After a few days you may even find yourself spending more and more time working toward that goal. The feeling of completion is SO worth the effort.
What are you doing in your five minutes today? Just go for it. Then you will be on your way to live . . . your life to the fullest.
