An audiobook I am listening to caused me to look for a textbook I had kept from my college studies. This search resulted in my exploring a box of notebooks and folders I didn’t remember I still had. This trip down memory lane has resulted in so many intriguing thoughts.
You see, I took my first ever college class when I was 39 years old, not knowing if I would be able to do it. Almost 10 years later I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. This is an achievement of which I am very proud. I just did it, one and two classes at a time, term after term, and finally, it was completed.
The greatest feeling I experience as I look back through these class materials is amazement. I am thinking, how in the world did I ever do this! Page after page of calculus, literature, papers, exams, quizzes, group reports, oh yes, and speeches and presentations! I was terrified of standing in front of a group and speaking. I recall the feelings of anxiety and the exhaustion from hours of study and preparation. How many times did I exit the Business Building at UAB quoting the scripture, “I can do all things through Christ Who strengtheneth me.”
And, that is exactly what happened. God helped me through it all and although it was not easy, it was so worth it. I am very thankful I stuck with and completed this degree. I am in such a better place today than I would have been otherwise.
Allow me to ask you now, what is that dream you want that looks so far out of reach? What is the one step you can take today that will start you on the journey to experiencing your dream come true?
Take that step now so you will be on your way to living . . . life to the fullest.
