Am I a responsible person, really? I found this sermon series by Andy Stanley quite intriguing. If asked if you are a responsible person, what would your answer be? Most of us would answer in the affirmative. However, he recommended taking a look deep inside ourselves and examining what we find. It is so easy to deceive ourselves into thinking we are doing ok by not taking an honest look into the intent of our hearts. Why do I do what I do? Do I do all that I should do? Really?
It is vital that we seek to understand what is in our hearts. Matthew 12:34 states, “for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.” If we don’t desire to be responsible and do the right things from our hearts, then it will surely show through our actions. I think we often fool ourselves into believing that our true feelings aren’t evident to others. I’ve witnessed people trying to appear positive with a person toward whom they actually had negative feelings. They may have thought they were convincing, but their body language and tone gave them away.
The truth usually surfaces. That is why it is so important to know that we are responsible, really!
