In my Lunch ‘N Learn last week I mentioned the quote from Zig Ziglar, “People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing, that’s why we recommend it daily.” This is the reason I like to keep motivational items in clear view so I am reminded regularly to keep focused in the right direction. I have been especially aware of that philosophy this week.
I began the week on Monday with so many things that needed to be done, some of which I was not terribly excited about doing. When I am doing physical tasks such as cleaning house it is helpful to have a little extra encouragement, so I searched the library online for an audiobook to listen to while I worked. I downloaded three and immediately began listening to one entitled “ADD-Friendly Ways to Organize Your Life” by Judith Kolberg & Kathleen Nadeau, PhD. I like to be organized and with what needed to be done that day, this was a pretty good selection. I’m good at organizing, but not so consistent with maintaining the organization on a day-to-day basis. I have been listening to this book regularly this week and find myself very motivated to get things in order! I’m more on the other side of the spectrum, the perfectionistic type, but I am gaining insight into what those with ADD deal with. I even personally relate to some of these traits. Who knew? I so enjoy learning things to help others and find myself growing in the process.
A few weeks ago I was experiencing internal resistance to making some things happen in my life. That is what occurs when there is so much to do that you sometimes don’t know where to start. I looked for books that would jump start my motivation – and I found them.
These examples prove so vividly the importance of what we fill our minds with. Whatever you need help with, there is information available.
Be sure to get your daily dose of motivation so you can live! your life to the fullest!
